Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer spread the joy

Charles Dickens‘ classic novel A Christmas Carolstar-powered reinvention, Fiery, will be in theaters and premiering on Apple TV+ this holiday season. Now that we’ve officially transitioned into fall, Apple has released four dazzling new posters featuring the musical’s lead roles. Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and oscar winner Octavia Spencer looking particularly happy.

This modern retelling of the stars of the Christmas story Reynolds as grumpy Ebeneezer Scroogeopposite Ferrell as Present, one of his ghostly guides, and Spencer as Scrooge’s colleague. Modern twist aside, Apple TV+ fiery is designed to wow audiences, with all-new original songs and dance numbers from the acclaimed songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The two Oscar-winning lyricists are responsible for the popular numbers of The Earth, Dear Evan Hansen, and The greatest showman. Their team of songwriters is bolstered by a Vassar graduate sukari jones, Khyon Hursey who made his debut hamilton‘s crew, and Emmy Award nominee Marc Sonnenblickto ensure that the film will be filled with original melodies.

The brand new posters give us a first look at some of the costumes, with Ferrell dressed in period items looking dapper alongside Reynolds snuggling up to Present in a very anti-Scrooge move. Spencer looks cheerful and bright in a pair of sequined reindeer antlers with twinkling lights in her eyes, and we see Reynolds practicing her dance moves in another. All of the posters appear to be blissfully candid moments with big smiles and a distinct behind-the-scenes feel.

For a story that’s been re-imagined a handful of times, Fiery was a highly sought-after project between Netflix, Paramount and Warner Bros. With star performers and some serious talent among the crew, this holiday production seems to tick all the boxes for a sparkling seasonal hit. The adaptation is written and directed by comedy writers Sean Ander and John Morrisknown for their screenplays daddy’s house with Ferrell, and Instant Familywhich means it is safe to assume Fiery is going to be a light and punchy take on Dicken’s noir novel. Both directors are also producers alongside Reynolds through Maximum Effort, Ferrell, David Koplan, and Jessica Elbaum. George Dewey will serve as executive producer. The cast of Fiery is joined by Sunita Mani (Everything everywhere all at once) as Past, Aimee Carrero (Mac & Rita) like Nora, Joe Tippet, Marlow Barkley, Patrick Page, and jen tulock.
