An update to Nintendo’s online store has revealed the file sizes of three big Switch-exclusive games coming this year.
With 2022 well into its second quarter and many of the biggest gaming franchises set to release new entries this year, Nintendo has a full lineup of exclusive titles to please fans of many of its best-known franchises. Between the recent release of major games like Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Pokemon Legends: Arceus and the recent announcement of Pokemon scarlet and violet Coming later in the year, Nintendo’s 2022 is jam-packed with exclusives throughout the year.
Many of Nintendo’s biggest announcements have come from recent Nintendo Direct broadcasts with Xenoblade Chronicles and Splatoon both confirmed to receive the franchises third major entry over the summer. Nintendo’s February Direct also confirmed the return of a popular franchise that had mostly fallen dormant with Sports Wii receive a spiritual successor in the form of Nintendo Switch Sports should be released later this week. Now, next Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Splaton 3Nintendo has revealed the file sizes for the upcoming sports game and the two sequels.
Nintendo’s online store updates earlier this week officially revealed the final file sizes for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Splaton 3and Nintendo Switch Sports. Out this Friday Nintendo Switch Sports will come in at a modest 1.4GB file size as the smallest of the three, though its size will likely increase with future updates adding more sports. Splaton 3 will require 6.0 GB of space to download digitally, like its predecessor Splaton 2is 6.1 GB. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is by far the largest of the trio, surpassing its two predecessors with a 15.0GB download.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3The recently revealed release date was the most surprising update to Nintendo’s upcoming lineup, as the game is now expected to arrive much sooner than originally estimated. While the third Xenoblade Chronicles the game was originally slated for a September 2022 release date, a recent trailer places Xenoblade 3more than a month before the scheduled date, now set for July 29. Splaton 3The revealed September 9 release date still falls within the Summer 2022 window, but towards the back half of the original release window.
The trio of games make up a small part of Nintendo’s stacked lineup of upcoming titles that also sees the long-awaited return of many fan-favorite franchises. Bayonet 3 received its first gameplay trailer in September after being revealed in 2017, while Nintendo’s announcement of Advance Wars 1 + 2: Reboot Camp marks the franchise’s first release since 2008 Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. With Super Mario Strikers and Mario + Rabbids Also set to return in the near future, Nintendo has plenty to offer its legions of loyal fans throughout 2022 and beyond.
