Lorena Rodriguez wins poster design contest

Westside School A-level art student Lorena Rodriguez has won a concert poster design for local musician Gabriel Moreno.

A-level art students participated in a competition to design the official poster for the Gabriel Moreno and the Quivering Poets album launch concert.

The students produced outstanding work and the finalists and winning entry were selected by Gabriel Moreno and the group themselves.

Gabriel Moreno is the recipient of this year’s Gibraltar Cultural Ambassador award and will also lead songwriting workshops for pupils aged 12+ as part of this year’s Youth Arts Jamboree.

“It’s a very exciting project for our students to showcase their talent,” said Director of Education Keri Scott.

“I take this opportunity to thank all the teachers and people involved in designing and facilitating this adventure for our learners. This will have provided young people with meaningful experience in a real-world setting. »

Minister for Education and Culture, John Cortes, added: “It is great to see such remarkable creations by our Grade 12 students. It’s a wonderful opportunity to promote the great work that goes on every day in our schools and a real opportunity to use their skills and creativity in a project that links their learning to industry.
