How Apex Legends’ Monsters Event Is Inspired By Vintage Movie Posters
Note: This article contains information disclosed by a data miner
In 2021 we have psychological thrillers and horror films, of course, but decades ago there was another genre that has vanished from most modern day scare festivals: the films of monsters. Apex Legends is bringing the genre back with the upcoming Monsters event. Leak and data chief Shrugtal says the Monsters event will arrive on October 12, perfect for the spookiest month of the year.
What really caught our attention, however, is Shrugtal’s Leak from Upcoming Banner Frames for the Event. Each frame is inspired by vintage monster movie poster designs. They’ve got all the makings of an old-fashioned monster movie poster: a campy title in stunning text, a monster to fear, actor credits, production credit, art inspired by the style used at the time, and even a cheesy slogan about the couple.
Monsters Banner Frames
There are four different “posters” available for the Monsters event, each depicting a different fictional monster movie, featuring one or more playable characters from Apex Legends.
- Invasion of the Outlands: An alien monster movie starring Caustic and Wattson
- Rise of the Bloodbot: A robot monster movie with Bloodhound
- Full moon over Skull Town: A werewolf monster movie starring Loba and Revenant
- The seen and the damned: A vampire monster movie starring Seer, Crypto and Wraith
The Full Moon over Skull Town banner look is our favorite, as we think it best sums up the era of the movie poster that the art team took inspiration from, but all of the designs are very cool. Huge props for all the developers who came up with this idea and created these iconic images full of nostalgia.
Note: Monsters will be a three-week event similar to Thrillseekers, while the return of the Shadow Royale Halloween event will still take place normally, on October 26.
