House of the Dragon posters promise spinoff full of fire and blood

HBO has released new character posters for Dragon Housespotlighting some of the characters we’ll be following in the spin-off series from the medieval fantasy hit game of thrones. Set two hundred years before the events of game of thronesthe spin-off series will focus on House Targaryen and how they ruled the continent of Westeros with the help of mighty dragons.

The new character posters feature the dragon symbol of House Targaryen engulfed in flames against a black background. In front of the burning sign, each poster presents one of the main characters of Dragon Houseis the cast. Additionally, all posters also feature the Targaryen family motto, “Fire and Blood”.

While the flames in the posters are directly tied to the mighty dragons the Targaryen Royal Family have led into battle, they also tease the civil war that is sure to break out in Westeros during the events of Dragon House. As revealed in the series’ first trailer, the series will show how all the powerful Houses of the Continent have pledged loyalty to the Iron Throne Targaryen. However, the fate of the family is uncertain as several Targaryens have their own ideas of who should sit on the Iron Throne and how they should lead the people of Westeros.


Among the characters represented in the new batch of posters, we can see Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen; Emma d’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen; Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen; Eve Best as Rhaenys Targaryen; Rhys Ifan as Otto Hightower, the hand of the king; Olivia Cooke as Otto’s daughter; Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, the “Sea Serpent”; Fabien Franck as Dornish warrior Ser Criston Cole; and Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, an outsider who becomes an unlikely ally to the throne.

The Dragon House the cast also includes Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, William Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin has spokenand Savannah Steyn. The series is based on Fire & Blooda prequel novel written by game of thrones author George RR Martin. The story will center around the civil war that divided the Targaryen family, an event known to fans as the “Dance of the Dragons”.

The series was created by Martin and the writer Ryan Condal. Condal also acts as showrunner, with director Miguel Sapochnik. The three executive producers alongside the writer Sara Hessedirector Greg Yaitanes, Jocelyn Diaz, Vince Gerardisand Ron Schmidt. Other directors include Claire Kilner, Geeta V. Patel.

Dragon House debuts August 21 on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. Check out the new character posters below.
