As a member of Grant Park Summer Shadow Festival, the Grant Park Conservancy (GPC) is holding its second annual commemorative poster competition.

With submissions due by midnight on June 30, attendees can design and create a “brand-inspired commemorative poster that embodies the Grant Park community and the spirit of the annual two-day music and art festival,” according to a press release from GPC.

A tradition in Atlanta’s oldest park, the Summer Shade Festival brings music, food, and art to Grant Park. This year’s festival will feature two music stages with long lines of artists, an art market lined with tents from local and regional artists, a 5km run, plenty of food and beer options, and a zone for children.

The 15th annual festival will be held August 26 from 10 am to 10 pm and August 27 from 11 am to 7:30 pm The festival is free. For directions to the park, click on here.

The festival benefits GPC, a non-profit, member-based organization “engaged in the restoration, renovation, beautification and maintenance of historic Grant Park.” “

Every poster designer is encouraged to consider the history of the park and the elements of the festival – art, music, community, food, and the 5K run – but the one branding element of the festival that needs to be incorporated into the design of the poster is the logo of the festival. The GPC also says that artists should “take risks and [not] be literal.

Last year’s poster, made by Jean Pyo, took this to heart, incorporating watercolor paints into the illustration. The winner of this year’s poster competition will receive a grand prize of $ 150, a professionally printed version of the poster and two VIP weekend passes to the festival. Posters can be submitted by email to [email protected]
